Dr. Ardura┬┤s research is focused on the study of parathyroid-hormone-related protein (PTHrP), parathyroid hormone (PTH), and the PTH/PTHrP receptor signaling in the kidney and bone.

 

The goal of these studies is to elucidate the different actions of these peptides in renal and bone tissues under physiological and pathogical conditions such as osteopenia, osteoporosis and renal fibrosis. Techniques applied include cell culture, rat and mouse animal models, optical approaches (confocal microscopy, FRET, FRAP and TIRF) as well as Immunohistochemistry, Western Blot and Real Time-PCR.

 

Dr. Ardura is currently focusing on the effects of oxidative stress and aging on PTH receptor signaling in bone and osteoblastic cells.
