Research Description:

My laboratory is involved in preclinical and clinical pharmacology studies of investigational and non-investigational antitumor drugs. Funded studies involve murine metabolism and disposition studies and Phase I and II clinical trials of individual agents and novel combinations of cytotoxic and non-cytotoxic compounds. We are also actively engaged in a number of studies of drugs given locally or regionally, e.g. intraperitoneal, intrathecal, intrapleural, and intravesical. Major classes of drugs under study include taxanes, anthracyclines, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, PI3 kinase inhibitors, and Heat Shock Protein 90-interactive agents. An emphasis is placed on relating pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the agents under study and developing novel limited sampling strategies and innovative non-invasive means of assessing drug concentration and drug effect.
