“Nucleotide Excision Repair, through the looking glass”

Wim Vermeulen, Ph.D.
Professor of Molecular Genetics
Erasmus MC, Netherlands

Global genome Nucleotide excision repair (GG-NER) is initiated by the concerted action of the damage sensing protein complexes UV-DDB and XPC. We showed that at this initial stage a reciprocal coordination, controlled by dynamic ubiquitylation, between DNA damage recognition and verification within NER is required for efficient repair.
