“Interrogating the DNA damage response at higher resolution”

Alberto Ciccia, PhD
Associate Professor
Department of Genetics and Development
Columbia University Medical Center

Mutations in DNA damage response (DDR) genes endanger genome integrity and predispose to cancer and genetic disorders. In the first part of my talk, I will describe our recent studies on the role of translesion synthesis polymerases in breast and ovarian cancer cells defective in homologous recombination. In the second part of the talk, I will present our recent work using cytosine base editing screens that led us to identify nucleotide variants in 86 DDR genes resulting in altered cellular fitness upon DNA damage.
