“Unique Estrogen Receptor Biology Underlies Therapy Response and Resistance in Lobular Carcinoma”

Matthew Sikora, PhD
Assistant Professor
Department of Pathology
University of Colorado Denver

Invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast (ILC) typically presents with tumor biomarkers consistent with estrogen dependence and responsiveness to anti-estrogen therapy. However, ongoing research supports that ILC is a distinct context for estrogen receptor function and associated pharmacology of anti-estrogens. I will discuss research in the Sikora Lab working to understand the biology of the estrogen receptor in ILC, with a focus on transcriptional co-regulators, toward developing new treatment approaches for ILC.
